This Saturday in Nyack, New York, the Edward Hopper House Art Center will be opening the show "Small Matters of Great Importance", a show in which I have been juried in and which it really makes me very happy to be part of it, as the sole fact of hanging my work in the house of one of the best American painters in history means a lot to me.

I am hoping to make my way over there sometime soon.

Alternatively Speaking

This coming November, a great array of photographic processes will be on display at Gallery 224. I am very proud of being part of this group show (inlcuding great artists such as Carissa Heinrichs, Hal Rammel, Vicki Reed ) in which the following processes will be shared, in order to generate interest in the possibility of a community darkroom in Port Washington_

(click on the process to access information about them)

Stay tuned as more information will become available soon.

And Counting...

OPEN HOUSE

Tonight and tomorrow stop by the Marshall Building in Milwaukee as it is usual, their 3rd Friday of the month is OPEN HOUSE. This time I will be at Art Upstairs (see photo) with some of the pieces from the MARINAS series, along with different boxes of prints from my collection.

I will be there personally for sure tomorrow, so stop by, tonight or tomorrow and pay me a visit while visiting other studios too. A lot of great work with almost 100 studios open through the building's 7 floors.

Still Looking for Her.

Tomorrow another film of the PORTfolio series will be screened. This time we will have "Finding Vivian Maier". Movie starts at 6PM. It will be the last movie I will be presenting for this year, as a vacation is on its way and busy times are ahead. Still, I will be back in January with some good stuff.

See you then.

Sometimes It Simply Happens.

Recently someone asked me how do I know when I do have "that image"? The one above, which I just took during our trip all the way up north I think is a good answer.

Sometimes simply happens that a boat is where it should be, the people is where they should be, and a ferry arrives when it has to arrive and above all, you are really lucky to connect the dots and press the shutter when all that is happening right there, in front of you.

And that's how as a photographer you come back home with a photograph you are really happy to have taken.

With My Own Hands!

Little by little the piece I started is taking shape. I can't believe how much I am liking this, or maybe I can but I am just amazed how I did not do this before. As you go taking wood away chip by chip, you see how the image evolves in front of you and... oh man, I am REALLY liking this.

Now just to find the right kind of paper and decide if oil or water inks for the first printing.

Coffee and Photos; Can It Get Better?

Join me this coming Saturday, when I will be at the Java Dock Cafe of Port Washington telling some of the stories behind the photos hanging there, which belong to my recent body of work "Marinas_ Short Tales by the Harbor".

Java dock has great affordable lunches as well as really good coffee. Talk starts at 11.30AM and will last an hour (aprox.). See you then.
