I found this postcards not long ago in a flea market and I hope that when I post again sometime around the middle of September, it will be showing what this places look like today. Sadly I did not find postcards for Lucca and the area of Cinque Terre (Italy) and Montreux and Interlaken (Switzerland), the other cities on our path. However I hope to make my own postcards as Dawn and I backpack through these places finding new stories, people and keep finding ourselves.

The journey is the destination!.

Recientemente me encontré con estas postales en un mercado de pulgas y espero que para cuando vuelva a postear de nuevo alrededor de la mitad de Setiembre, las imágenes que cuelgue serán de lo que estos lugares lucen hoy en día. Lamentablemente no pude encontrar postales de las ciudades de Lucca y la zona de Cinque Terre (Italia), Montreux y Interlaken (Suiza), las otras ciudades en nuestro camino. Sin embargo espero crear mis propias postales mientras Dawn y yo mochileemos a través de estos lugares encontrando nueva gente, nuevas historias, etc, y encontrándonos cada vez un poco mas a nosotros mismos.

El destino es el viaje!

I thought of sharing these two pictures which were taken practically simultaneously when my friends Dario and Andrea came to visit back on May. The images taken on Milwaukee are an interesting excerise on perception, time and space (or at least to me). Maybe this will develop into an idea? never know.

Pensè en compartir estas dos imágenes las cuales fueron tomadas prácticamente simultáneamente cuando mis amigos Dario y Andrea estuvieron de visita en Mayo. Estas imágenes tomadas en Milwaukee son un interesante ejercicio sobre percepción, tiempo y espacio (o al menos para mi). Quizás esto habrá la puerta a alguna idea? nunca se sabe.

Today here on Port was the second day in the Maritime Festival which takes place every year in mid-August. I have going over the harbor every year I have been here just for the weird type of magic it provokes seeing those ships entering Port. It is like stepping back in time. Priceless. 

I dedicate this picture to my good friend Daniel with who we share the same fascination.

Hoy aquí en Port fue el segundo día del Festival Marítimo el cuál tiene lugar cada año en la mitad de Agosto. He tratado de ir al muelle cada año que he estado aquí solamente por ese tipo de magia extraña que provoca ver esas embarcaciones entrando en Port. Es como volver en el tiempo. Impagable.

Esta foto se la dedico a mi buen amigo Daniel con quien compartimos esa fascinación.

It has been said and repeatedly that a picture can be worth thousand words. Sometimes is all the opposite, and thousand words make up for a better image. I came up with this piece (as another one I will be posting soon_ "Family Portraits_ #2)) in response to my own question about representation of ideas, meanings and feelings being expressed through collage.

Se ha dicho con anterioridad y repetidamente que una imagen puede valer mas que mil palabras. A veces es todo lo opuesto, a veces mil palabras hacen una mejor imagen. Hice esta pieza ( así como otra que estaré subiendo en breve_ "Retratos Familiares _#2) en respuesta mi propia pregunta acerca de representación de ideas, significados y sentimientos al ser expresados a través de collage.

One year ago my little sister showed the biggest smile from all the ones she kept during the time she dealt with her cancer. A time of fear, doubt, anger and pain, to which she did stand the same way she still stands, with the bravery that only can tell us a lot about her and ourselves. Today she still keeps that pretty smile of always and still keeps pushing, like she always did, like she always do, like she always will. To her this picture.

Hace un año, mi hermana mas chica mostraba la sonrisa mas grande de todas las que mantuvo durante el tiempo que tuvo que lidiar con su cáncer. Tiempo de miedo, dudas, rabia y dolor, ante el cuál ella se mantuvo en pie de la misma manera que aún lo hace, con la bravura que nos dice mucho sobre ella y sobre nosotros mismos. Hoy ella mantiene esa misma linda sonrisa de siempre y sigue empujando, como siempre hizo, como siempre hace, como siempre lo hará. A ella esta foto.
