I am really happy to announce that I have been selected by Catherine Edelman (*) for the COPA (Coalition of Photographic Arts) 5th Annual Midwest Juried Exhibition at the Walker's Point Center for the Arts in Milwaukee. This year, I have made the cut of 30 artists selected out of 116 and 43 works selected out of an impressive amount of 450 photographs submitted. It is a pleasure not only to be part of a show with selected fellow photographers from Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota but also to be selected with one of the images that has a lot of meaning to me (the one above) from the series I been working for a while, "Preserved".

The show will open on December 2nd at the Walker's Point Center for the Arts and will last until January 21st, 2012. Check it out!

Estoy super contento de anunciar que fui seleccionado por Catherine Edelman (*) para la 5ta Muestra Anual Jurada del MediOeste organizada por COPA (Coalición de las Artes Fotográficas) del 2011 a realizarse en el Walker´s Point Center for the Arts en Milwaukee. Este año soy parte del grupo de 30 fotógrafos seleccionados de un contingente de 116 y 43 trabajos seleccionados de una impresionante cantidad de 450 envíos. La lista completa adémas de una bio del jurado (solo en inglés) puede ser vista haciendo click AQUI.

Es un placer no solo el ser parte de una muestra con otros fotógrafos seleccionados también de los estados de Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois y Minnesota, sino que a su vez el haber sido elegido con una imagen que tiene mucho significado para mi (la imagen vista al comienzo de este post) de la serie en la que he estado trabajando por un tiempo, "En Conserva"

La muestra abre el 2 de Diciembre en el Walker´s Point Center for the Arts en Milwaukee y permanecerá allí hasta el 21 de Enero del 2012.

Hopefully you too!!!. On Monday 31st, Smith Brothers Coffee House on Port will host their Halloween Party from 3pm to 6pm. In the agenda will be an "anti-alien" tin foil hat making contest from 4-5pm (supplies provided) as well as playing to original broadcast "WAR OF THE WORLDS" (if my record player works it will be the vinyl version, otherwise there is a backup cd). 

Fun, food, good coffee, and laughs, be there or be square! Try to make it.

Ojalá vos también!!!!, 

El Lunes 31, Smith Brothers Coffee House en Port celebrará su fiesta de Halloween desde las 15 hasta las 18. En la programación habrá una competencia de sombreros hechos de papel aluminio desde las 16 hasta las 17 ( materiales suministrados) al mismo tiempo que será emitido el programa original "LA GUERRA DE LOS MUNDOS" ( si el tocadiscos me anda será la versión en vinilo, sino hay un cd de respaldo) de 1938 en la versión por Orson Wells.

Diversión, comida, buen café y risas. Estaté o andaté. Tratá de llegar.

The Grafton Arts Mill is calling artists of any media to submit work for their juried show titled "Winter White". Artwork created with the color white as the central point of inspiration for this show will bring to view multiple and interesting approaches to a subject so complex to portray as rich in possibilities. If you would like more information on how to be part of this "bright" experience, click HERE for more info.

P.S_For inspiration, I will HIGHLY recommend the movie "Blanc", second one on the loved trilogy "Trois Couleurs"_ Blue, Blanc et Rouge by the sadly gone Kryzstof Kieslowski. PRICELESS!!!

"Found" today's morning walking around Port after a nice coffee. Just wanted to share it since as a graphic artist (and "lines freak") I think it is one of those"geometrically beautiful".

Hello Everybody,

Jane Suddendorf, whose admirable motivation behind Gallery 224 have give to the community and to local emerging and established artists an incredible experience with her past curated show "Birds of a Different Feather" is calling all artists for an upcoming show under the theme "Food for Thought- Tastes and Text". This show is not about food literally ( I had to ask since my ESL sometimes betrays me), but about what fulfills you as a person. The whole info about it as follows_

The Venue Gallery 224 is a beautiful gallery space overlooking the Port Washington marina. Shows are organized around a common theme, representing a wide range of artistic approaches and a diverse use of art media.

Exhibition Concept 

Artists are invited to submit original artwork inspired by the theme Food for Thought –Tastes and Text. All types of art media and interpretations are welcome. We are looking for imagery rich in tastes or with a strong narrative quality. Text may be integrated into the artwork or accompany the artwork, or be implied by imagery alone. Calligraphy pieces are also welcome. Artist entry fee covers promotional costs, invitations, and opening reception. The artist receives 100% from any sale of artwork with no gallery fee. Gallery 224 is a nonprofit venture to promote art and professional and emerging artists.

Exhibition Schedule

Saturday, November 12th – Deadline for submitting digital images online at gallery224@gmail.com please include dimensions of your work with your online submissions.

Monday, November 14th – Notification of acceptance

Thursday, November 17th 4:00-7:00 and Saturday, November 19th 8:00-10:00 – Delivery of accepted art work to the gallery at 224 East Main (next to the Dockside Deli) Port Washington. The $25 entry fee is due at this time.

Saturday, December 3rd 4:00-8:00 pm – Opening Reception

Sunday, January 29th – Last day to view show

Thursday, February 2nd 4:00-7:00 and Saturday, February 4th 8:00-10:00 – Any unsold artwork must be picked up on these dates. Gallery will not be responsible for any work left after pick up dates.

Insurance/ Liability By submission of any work, the artist agrees to abide by the exhibition rules and waives any and all claims for loss or damage against Gallery 224 or any individuals or entities associated with the exhibit. Insurance is the responsibility of the artist.

Happiness, Happiness!!!

Jess and Joe, Port Washington October 9th, 2011

There is nothing better that when you see happiness on friends faces. Last Sunday I was invited to not only witness but to capture a great ceremony and a good time sharing part of that happiness with really cool people like Jess and Joe during their wedding.

To them my BEST wishes and a good life together. Like we say in Uruguay, SALUD!!!!!
