Happy Hour!!!!!

It was a grey and rainy afternoon today so I headed to my favorite place on Port for a cup of coffee and good conversation and I just find out that I sold the two pictures below. Thanks to the person that bought them for supporting local arts and to the people at Smith Brothers for having me there.

Hoy fue una tarde gris y lluviosa así que arranque para mi lugar favorito en Port por una taza de café y un poco de buena charla y me encontré con que vendi las dos imágenes que se ven mas abajo. Gracias a quién las compro por apoyar el arte local y a Smith Brothers por tenerme allí.

from 6-9 p.m.

(Located just south of the Bridge Street Dam)

A silent auction and beverages by Grapes and Taste is included.  Appetizers will be compliments of Cornerstone Community Bank.  All are welcome!  Donation is requested at the door.

All proceeds go to the new Grafton Public Arts Board to continue to bring art into Grafton.

I am almost done with the painting above. I have been reluctant to paint "landmarks" but the reason behind this I thought it was valid, at least for me. 

Recently, during my friends visit, I took them to see 1860´s lighthouse built on the top of St. Mary´s Hill on Port Washington (see picture below). It is one of my favorite places to go for a walk and I have walk there many times before but this was the first time that when talking about its history I did really fantasize on how may have been back on the time with no buildings surrounding it. Well, you will say that´s why photoshop is for but I like complicated things.

I have finished the buildings with all the detail I could afford and wanted on it, but for some reason I pictured the whole image on winter and I never before painted a snow scene. I have been reading on how frustrating can be and I am a little scared about too much white but will see how it goes. 

Any thoughts?

Ya terminé casi con la pintura que se ve mas arriba. No me ha interesado el pintar "monumentos" antes, pero en este caso creo que hay una razón válida. Al menos para mi.

Hace poco, durante la visita de unos amigos, los llevé a ver la estación del faro de Port Washington en la colina St. Mary (ver photo mas arriba). Es uno de mis lugares favoritos donde salir a caminar y aunque he estado ahí muchas veces antes, esta fue la primera vez que al hablar del año en que fue construido, me paré realmente a pensar como se hubiera podido ver sin nada alrededor en esos días. Alguien diría que para eso esta photoshop pero a mi me gustan las cosas complicadas.

He terminado las edificaciones con todo el detalle que quisiera y que pudiera pero por alguna razón imagine toda la imagen en invierno y nunca antes he pintado una escena de nieve. He estado leyendo sobre el tema y reconozco que asusta un poco la gran cantidad de espacio en blanco pero veremos como sale.

Alguna idea?

The NSAA ( North Shore Academy of Arts) through their annual proyect "SATURATION" had extended me a kind invitation to participate as a visiting artist to do a small lecture and conduct a workshop for children with the subject "My Neighborhood" as a central point. Very happy of this invitation and a month of lots of work and research through my own work will keep me really busy. It will be a good "saturation" :)

La NSAA ( siglas en inglés por Academia de la Costa Norte para las Artes) a través de su proyecto "SATURACION" me han extendido una amable invitación como artista vistante para realizar una pequeña presentación/lectura, así como también conducir un pequeño taller para niños titulado "Mi Barrio" como tema central. Estoy muy contento por esta invitación y un mes lleno de trabajo y repaso de mi propio trabajo me mantendrá realmente ocupado. Será una buena "saturación" :)
