As I mentioned on a previous post (July 29th), I ended turning one of my photographs into this painting you see above, as part of my own self-thought painting study.

Hopefully someone decides to find a place on their home for it. Anyone?

Arriving to Good Port

Last weekend, Port Washington held its annual Maritime Heritage Fest, marking that way somehow the beginning of the end of summer, as it was the last weekend festival to be held in town. It was a really hot weekend in which we all felt like fish looking for cold water. Despite that and finishing the weekend with a really bad headache due to the intense heat, I had a great time, wondering around, doing pictures and being able to see Port Washington for the first time from a different angle, more precisely its front door.

As my Marina project goes, rolls #26, #27 and #28 were made over this weekend. Things will start to slow down for me when it comes to photographing, as many things fall over my plate now but will keep photographing as much as I can before the winter.

I have added some more scanned prints to the photostream I am trying to keep from my ongoing project "Marina". You can access it HERE.

Hopefully will be uploading more material once I get the negative scanner. On the meanwhile this scanned proof prints will have to do it.

As this summer starts to fade away, I keep shooting after getting 2 weeks of almost no pictures taken. So far I processed rolls #24 and #25 and still on the go.

This coming weekend the Port Washington Maritime Heritage Festival will be going on and I hope to make some more work.

A Coffee with the MASTER.

This Wednesday join us at the W. J. Niederkorn Library in Port Washington, for another screening of PORTfolio, the visual arts documentary program I started at the library in coordination with Gallery 224.

This time we will have "The Impassioned Eye" (trailer above) about the life and work of Henri Cartier-Bresson. Do not miss it as it promises to be a great night. As with the previous one (about Sally Mann), we will have books on the author and a discussion table following the screening of the film.

Screening starts at 6PM. It is recommended to arrive 15 minutes earlier.

Hope to see you there.

Yesterday was a good day as I received a brand new replacement camera for the one I been having issues with. Anxious to make photographs, I went today for a short walk on Port, luckily enough to be able to photograph the tall ship "Friends of Good Will" (click HERE for more info on the ship), which happen to make a short stop today in their way to Collingwood, Canada in Lake Ontario.

Sadly this year, does not seem there will be tall ships during the Maritime Festival, reason why I celebrate more to have had my film camera to caught this nice visit. Now I have to wait to process the film, meanwhile I share these couple ones on color which are dedicated to my good friend Daniel.

Last Sunday during our day trip to Algoma, my rangefinder camera's shutter jammed again. It is the second time this happens in four months, which added to the fact that I bought that camera brand new, are reasons to not be very happy about it. Yesterday I sent it to California again for repair under warranty, which it is a total hassle (economically and practically speaking) and which not only sets me back on my project "Marina", but also happened at the really wrong time, since the Port Washington Maritime Heritage Festival will be in couple of weeks and not sure if I will have it back before that. Let's hope I do.

So far now and until I get it back, I am forced to pause on rolls #22 & #23 which I processed yesterday.
