I am really happy to announce that 2 of the pieces of my ongoing work "Preserved" (click here and here) have been selected from over 400 entries to participate in the 2011 Wisconsin Artists Biennal. 

This event, which highlights works by artists from or residing in the state of Wisconsin, was juried this time by Ellen Lanyon, a professional artist and educator, who brings over forty years of experience working with some of the finest institutions in the country. She is the recipient of numerous honors including a Fulbright Study Grant and two National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artists Awards. Lanyon’s work has been the subject of eleven museum exhibitions, including one at the National Collection of American Art and the Smithsonian among others.(*)

I have to say that it makes me really proud to be one of the 83 artists chosen from the over 400 that submitted work to it, but also to be one of the few from who 2 pieces of work were selected for the show, which will be composed of a total of 95 pieces.

The show, showcasing the best of Wisconsin art in different disciplines will open on June 26 at the Anderson Art Center, a beautiful 1892 mansion converted into an art center in the Kenosha County, and will be displayed until August.

Estoy sumamente contento de anunciar que 2 de mis piezas fotográficas de mi trabajo en progreso "En Conserva" (click aquí y aquí) han sido seleccionadas de entre mas de 400 aplicaciones para participar de la Bienal de Artistas de Wisconsin 2011.

Este evento, el cuál exhibe trabajos realizados por artistas de o residiendo en el estado de Wisconsin, fue jurado por Ellen Lanyon, artista y educadora profesional, quién trae 40 años de experiencia trabajando con algunas de las mas prestigiosas instituciones del país. Ella es recipiente de numerosos honores incluyendo el Fulbright Study Grant y 2 Premios Nacionales para la Promoción de Artistas en las Artes Visuales. El trabajo de Lanyon es el sujeto de 11 muestras en museos, incluyendo la Collección Nacional de Arte Américano y el Smithsonian entre otros.(*)

Tengo que decir que me hace sentir realmente orgulloso el ser parte del grupo de 83 artistas seleccionados de entre mas de 400 que se presentaron a la biennal y a la vez ser uno de los pocos de los cuales 2 piezas fueron seleccionadas en lo que totalizara una muestra con 95 piezas en diferentes disciplinas.

Esta muestra, la cuál mostrará lo mejor del arte en Wisconsin, abrirá sus puertas el día 26 de Junio en el Anderson Arts Center, una hermosa mansión construida en 1892 y convertida en centro cultural en el condado de Kenosha y permanecera abierta hasta el mes de Agosto.
