Road Tripping Wisconsin

The Midwest and its landscape full of green and the occasional abandoned barn offer always a postcard that does not get me tired of looking or photographing.

Dawn and I spent last Sunday in another road tripping time along the Lake Michigan coast up to the town of Algoma, in something that turned out to be a nice journey. I been looking to go there since last year when my sisters were here, as we passed the little fishing town on our way to Door County. The town which was founded around 1834 is a nice point to walk around with its maritime history and legacy visible in many of its corners, the antique shops that are a staple in Midwest towns like this one, great XIX and early XX century architecture, etc, all while being warmed up by the sun of August and the nice breeze that blows from the lake. Sometimes it is really good to be able to unplug and this time was one of those. Below I share some pictures and their captions.

Placed in Algoma in 1932, the pier head light standing today, is one of several ones that shine their light from the town into Lake Michigan's constantly changing mood.

A visit to "Dodge Antiques and Architecturals" proved to be a fun time as we browsed through thousands of objects tagged by the owner with a lot of sense of humor.

The Flying Pig is an awesome place for anyone who likes art and crafts. Nice gardens, great artwork and good people. Thes plant's pots are an example of the original usable artwork you can find there.

As one of our last stops we went through the Manitowoc Zoo, which we never have visited. I have to say I am not fan of zoos, but still could not avoid the smile that this "Fatso prairie dog" put on my face yesterday.
